Wine Shop & Retail
Catering is our major focus and love, but we are always growing. In the spring of 2007 we ventured into the retail arena with our market. Our historic brick building which originally housed the People’s Grocery Warehouse in the early 1900’s was a natural backdrop for our gourmet groceries. From homemade frozen entrees, hors d’oeuvres, sorbets and burritos to local Higginbotham grass fed beef, imported cheeses, breads, oils, pastas and sauces, we provide our customers the convenience of shopping for these items locally rather than making the drive to Charlottesville or Fredericksburg. We also have brought in a fine assortment of dripless candles, cocktail napkins, bar supplies and other entertaining accessories.
In 2008 we added wine and beer, a natural addition to beggars fare. We offer a broad range of French wines as well as selections from Argentina, Australia, Europe, New Zealand and South Africa, California and Virginia, as well as specialty beers. We provide a 10% discount on mixed cases and 15% on full cases. We offer featured wines monthly at deeper discounts (10% per bottle and 20% per full case) introduced at our wine tastings by winemakers, distributors and other specialists. Tastings usually take place on the third Friday of the month from 4:30-7pm and are free and open to the public. Continually adding new selections to our wine and beer selections, we are happy to place special orders for both upon request.

Tuesday and Wednesday 9-5
Thursday and Friday 9-6
Saturday 9-3
We are officially closed on Mondays, but if we are here tending to beggars business, our door is open!
